Before the galaxy remembered his name, he was simply the apprentice.
Darth Maul didn’t wield his weapon like a duelist—he wielded it like a storm. Trained in secrecy and shaped into a living instrument of the dark side, his double-bladed saber wasn’t built for elegance. It was built to overwhelm.
Fun Fact: Maul’s original saberstaff measured just under 50 cm (19.5 in) for the hilt and used multiple crystals to power both blades, reinforcing its role as a true dual-emitter weapon rather than two separate sabers.
The saberstaff itself is an old design—rare, aggressive, and notoriously difficult to master. Two emitters. One continuous flow of motion. Every strike becomes a chain, every defense becomes an attack. This interpretation follows the same philosophy. As famously seen in the "Duel of the Fates" battle of Darth Maul against Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jin. You know, that thing that traumatized an entire generation of younglings.
